Teens and Media Part 2

1. I think teens are portrayed unfair because the media only shows the bad of teenagers, they never show the good in teens.
2. Yes the media reinforces stereotypes. The stereotypes are realistic but only towards the bad.
3. Only in reality tv shows does it show how teens are just like me.

Teens in the Media

Selena Gomez: A singer and actress.
When the media displays Selena Gomez they make look like a clingy ex-girlfriend to Justin Bieber, how shes going to give up on social media in a few years, and how her new album has come out.

Miley Cyrus: Daughter of 90's country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, she acted on Disney's Hannah Montana series and became a pop artist.
When the media displays Miley Cyrus they have articles of how shes showing cleavage, how she got back with her ex-boyfriend Liam Hemsworth, and hows shes going to quite social media for her boyfriend.

Degrassi: About teens. Fictional show
How teens act on a normal basis. Teens are portraying each other. No its not not accurate presentation of teens because it doesn't show how they really act on a daily basis.

Teen Mom: About Teens. Reality show
What its like to go through teen pregnancy. The media, parents, and boyfriends. Yes its an accurate presentation because it shows the difficulty of how life is on a daily basis.

Teen Pregnancy

In the article it explains what Teen Mom has done to decrease the chances of teen pregnancy in US, between 2005 to 2007 only 7% of teen girls were pregnant, not only did it decrease the chances but it raised the chances of sex ed. 90% of teen girls think that teen pregnancy is difficult after watching 16 and pregnant. 4 in 10 teenagers who watch 16 and pregnant talk about the show with an adult.

I agree with the article because it raised awareness in US, and it also lowered the chances of teen getting pregnant.
